THE DINNER PARTY
Anne Grip
I’m ready to leave.”
I fetched Ma’am’s coat and moved toward her but stopped short as I saw her under the hall light. She was dressed for a night out in a bold red-and-black floral party dress, but I had noticed the flowing fabric silhouetting a blunt object just to the left of her sex. Beads of sweat formed on my upper lip, and I swallowed hard. She smiled sweetly in my direction, her eyes glittering as she caught my reaction.
“Now.”
I approached again, trying to look anyplace but where I had seen that whisper of a bulge pushing against her dress. As I held it up, she slid into her coat without a look back. Side by side we resembled any butch/femme couple you might see on the streets of Brooklyn. I wore a paisley bow tie, as they were having a fashion moment. Ma’am liked to have a stylish accessory at her side, or half a step behind in my case.
My shirt was one size looser on the collar than I usually wear as it had to button around Ma’am’s leather collar and the metal lock that kept it in place, the key on a white gold chain around her neck. It could stay there for all I cared. Nights in the collar when she came to town were an altered state of being for me, a reality I happily entered and never wanted to leave.
Wrapped in her long black coat, the only part of her outfit still visible was her black, high-gloss shoes. Three shiny buckles crept past her ankle to her lower calf, and the gaps between each one showed a glimpse of fishnet stocking. Kneeling before her I had pulled those stockings on and straightened the rear seam before tightening each strap and fixing the buckles one by one, enacting our dressing ritual, which began my service to her before each date.
I was hers. Our signed contract had yielded my body and will to her exclusive use. We were on month two of six. I lived in dread of time passing and of me not measuring up to her exacting standards. Any opportunity to serve her meant a chance to show her that I was worth being signed away for longer than a trial period and kept as a cherished possession or pet, to be used however she desired.
I opened the door to the town car that had pulled up front, helped her in and shut it. One night, our date had ended right there. The car had pulled away and a text on my phone gave me instructions to stay in the apartment until she returned later that evening. I assumed the position on the bed as instructed and waited. I had plenty of time to contemplate my devotion to her, and by the time my phone buzzed with my next instruction I was delirious with want.
Tonight she gestured me forward, and I got in the black sedan from the other side. I looked to see if I should kneel on the floor or stay seated beside her.
